Interesting article I read recently about ‘Glamour’. I liked reading this article as to me it was particularly pertinent to the Christmas consumerism going on at the moment. I have read many blogs about people frantically shopping for Christmas – parents who feel pressurised to by their 5 year old a tablet, families going into debt just to buy Christmas presents and so much more.

To me, this isn’t just disheartening because Christmas has lost its true meaning but also because instead of making the end of the year happy and relaxed, it is making people tense and worried.

And then back to this idea of Glamour and how we look up to these celebrities or  dream jobs thinking ‘wouldn’t it be so easy  to be a….’ or ‘i wish…’. But in fact we all know life is anything but easy. That is why these amazing celebrities we aspire to…

Everything happens for a reason… or does it?

I use the phrase ‘Everything happens for a reason’ but this morning I read an article from Big Think that described this way of thinking as managing ‘to combine the maximum of ignorance with the maximum of arrogance’. Wow.

This made me think. Why do we use this phrase? I think it might be because sometimes there isn’t an immediate answer to something or something seems inexplicable or ‘unfair’. It is a kind of reassurance that life is not nice sometimes.
